The East of England Regional Assembly covers the counties of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. The assembly has representatives from all 54 local authorities in the region.

The East of England Liberal Democrat Group comprises your group leaders and those elected every two years by you to sit on EERA's various Panels. We are unique in ensuring that our EERA representatives are representative of the views of the 540+ Liberal Democrat district, unitary and county councillors in this region.

That means it's your Group - and needs to reflect your views. Please feel free to get engaged with the important agenda now undertaken by the Regional Assembly. Elections are currently taking place for the various committees and panels- please put yourself forward for election.

Liberal Democrats seek role of Recruitment Agency in Chief Executive salary

Liberal Democrats have written to the District Auditor in an attempt to reveal the role of the recruitment agency hired for £50,000 to advise the County Council in selecting a new Chief Executive.

Liberal Democrats concerned about the new Park & Ride contract for Ipswich

Liberal Democrats have called into question the timing of the new Park & Ride contract for Ipswich. The contract, which sees First Eastern Buses take over from the locally run Ipswich Buses, comes at a time when the future of the County Council is still to be decided.

Another National Bike Week comes and goes and still Essex languishes with poor provision for cyclists. In Essex not a single recognisable network of routes exists anywhere in the county. There is no annual programme for cycleway network development and cycling and walking have low priority in Essex.

Liberal Democrats today responded to the examination of the damning report by the District Auditor over the recruitment process for the chief executive post at the county council, branding the Conservative Administration's claim that it only contained "a few minor procedural matters" as bordering on delusional.
