The East of England Regional Assembly (EERA) exists to promote the economic, social and environmental well-being of the region. EERA has 105 members, of which approximately 70 are nominated by local authorities or political groups. All 54 local authorities in the East of England have members on the Assembly. The remaining members are Community Stakeholders who represent business, higher and further education, environmental groups and the voluntary sector among others.

The Assembly has a number of specialist panels including Employment and Skills, Environment and Resources, Europe and International Affairs, Housing and Sustainable Communities, Regional Planning and Social Inclusion.
